- 1 litre water (for boiling)
- 1/2 can leche evaporada (evaporated milk), about 175 ml
- 1 cube chicken bouillon (consomé de pollo en polvo)
- 12 corn tortillas
- 1/2 cup corn oil, for frying
- Media crema (Mexican table cream), cold, to serve
- 1 cup romaine lettuce, sliced into thin ribbons
- 1/3 cup queso panela, grated or crumbled
- Salsa roja or salsa verde, to serve
